Hi! I am Debbie Bowley, Director of the Children's Day Out (CDO)
program here at First Presbyterian Church. This is my tenth year (2007)
at CDO.
I was born in England, and completed my Bachelor of
Education degree in Nottingham, England, specializing in Special
Education. After accompanying my husband to his new job in the United
States in 1986, I volunteered in several school systems until I
obtained my green card; I then went to teach pre-school with the
Owensboro City Schools. I quit work when my older daughter, Sarah, was
born, and started here when she turned 3 - in 1997. I had a year away
from the program in 1999 when my younger daughter, Kate, was born, and
I have been here ever since!
My particular work is to direct the
program; to plan and prepare developmentally appropriate activities for
all the classrooms, and; to spend time in each room with all the
children, doing "circle" with them. It is also my responsibility to
make sure that CDO is a happy, healthy, and safe environment for our
children, and that both our staff and the parents of our children are
content and satisfied.
I am involved in PTO at our daughters'
schools, and I am a member of First Presbyterian Church. Our family
life is very busy...but I wouldn't have it any other way!
